Overview

21_21 DESIGN SIGHT is an exhibition facility designed to rethink everyday objects and occurrences and make new, design-based proposals. Offering exhibitions as well as diverse other programs such as talks and workshops for visitors to experience the fun of design and make new discoveries, it is a hub of activity where visitors look for, find and create designs that the modern age needs and that make life more enjoyable as culture.

Planner

21_21 DESIGN SIGHT’s Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 hold three design exhibitions planned by the museum per year. Gallery 3, which opened in March 2017, the museum’s tenth anniversary, is open to the public and also available for a wide range of programs by companies, educational and research institutions, Japanese and non-Japanese cultural organizations and more. Please contact us if your company is interested in a collaboration.

21_21 DESIGN SIGHT opened in spring 2007, with Issey Miyake as its founder. Miyake, Taku Satoh and Naoto Fukasawa, served as its directors. Satoh and Fukasawa continue to serve in this capacity, while Noriko Kawakami continues to participate as an associate director. These are the key planners who consider the themes and details of the activities and exhibitions held at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT.
